We are a group of lovely, fun-loving, driven and passionate medical students who came together and decided to set up a club to help the new Malaysian medical students attending the MBBS course at University of Adelaide settle into their new environment and to ease them into the Australian way and culture. Since then, AUMSSA has grown to include more international students from countries other than Malaysia.

 

AUMSSA has constructed a vertical support system designated to buddy members up with a mentor, who will help with not only educational, but also social difficulties encountered in everyday life. (i.e. housing, insider’s secrets on cheap groceries etc.)

 

We have enjoyed tremendous success with our Swotvac Lecture Series and mock OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) over several years. Each event has been packed with eager students, with mock OSCE spots completely filled within minutes of registration openings.

 

AUMMSA has affiliations with the Australian Chinese Medical Association (ACMA) & the Adelaide Medical Students’ Society (AMSS). This aims at expanding our social network where members get exclusive invites to various clinical dinners and scientific meetings. 

 

We understand that as international students, being homesick is REAL!

AUMMSA organizes various get-togethers during festive times. As a member, YOU — whether a fellow Malaysian or not — will have the opportunity to come along and revel in the shower of conviviality amongst fellow members during these get-togethers.

 

As a member, you are invited to all social events/outings; orientation and welcoming parties, movie nights, strawberry picking, the annual Merdeka celebration plus many other exciting events. ’Nuff said.
